Before going to China, I did not expect to learn so much from this ASEAN-China Youth Summer Camp and was simply looking forward to making new friends there. However, it did not take long to realize that I was wrong after meeting other participants on the first day of the Camp.

Although the Camp did not have a specific program to discuss about the real life in different countries, all participants talked about it every time we hung out. Thanks to them, I could better understand the lives of people in ASEAN and China beyond statistical information. Despite having grown up in different countries and environments, we opened up our mind freely. No one had any stereotypes toward the people from different backgrounds and we respected each other all the time. We shared not only the bright side, but also the dark side of our own country. Together we tried to figure out what the problems were and how we can tackle them. I used to have a pessimistic view of the future of the world, but from that moment, I could see that there was still hope!

If someone asks me what was the best memory during this Camp, I would say it was meeting amazing friends who will lead this world with peace. I do appreciate the ASEAN-Korea Center for giving me an opportunity to have such an amazing experience!
