Malaysians are blessed with an abundance of places to have fun with friends and family. Speaking from a personal opinion, I always find myself making plans to spare some time with those who are close to my heart and for all to conclude with a final decision is hard. In this post, I am going to share with you the top three escapes you should never miss while in Malaysia! Bear in mind that these places are FREE, and that you shouldn’t worry!

1.  Morning Stroll at Central Market, Kuala Lumpur

Trust me that this is one of the best place to visit while in Kuala Lumpur! While you stroll around to get to Central Market, stop by to one of the flower shop alongside the road. It is always good idea to spoil yourself sometimes and nothing could ever go wrong with bright, yellow flowers on a breezy Saturday morning! Street photographers are often around the area; photographing the beauty of the people who spend their weekend working hard for their families- so if you are lucky, do not miss the chance to ask for a photo! For those who do not know, Central Market which was built in the year 1888 is now recognized as the landmark for the Malaysian Culture and Heritage. It is a one-stop centre which offers a variety of arts, textiles and handicrafts that are very eye-pleasing; even the locals enjoy it!

Imagine spending your Saturday morning walking around the city, with a bunch of flowers? Every angle is picture-worthy. NOW; imagine no more and head down to this place quick!

As a side note, it is also to be noted that there are other places to tour around Central Market. After indulging yourself with the famous stall that specializes in Putu Bambu; a local dessert at Kasturi Walk, you can walk around to Merdeka Square, the Sultan Abdul Samad Building and also the National Textiles Museum which would take less than ten minutes by foot.

2.  Picnic at Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) Park

Google “Best Places to Picnic in Kuala Lumpur” and the KLCC Park will always be on the list; which says it all. It is clean, everything is green that you would eventually forget that you are in the city; and who would say no to breakfast with a view of one of the tallest building in the world? I know I could never. Until then, you could get inside the mall and go for some shopping or run a movie marathon with you friends; or watch over the little sweethearts in your family at the swimming pool or playgrounds nearby. Best part? Let me remind you again, all of these; picnic and kids playtime- can be done free of charge!

3.  Wheelie Sundays at Publika, Solaris Dutamas

If we could ever stay true to ourselves, when was the last time we exercised? Being young is not an excuse to take our health for granted; therefore, it is necessary to be mindful of ourselves and take as many opportunities as we can to be fit; and that includes participating in the weekly Sunday routine at Publika from 7AM to 10AM! There is no reason for one to refuse cycling now, had they say they do not own any bicycle; as Publika provides a variety of sizes tailored for each age class; and it is all up to one’s own will whether to sweat or not!
